Lobby or reception in ibis Styles Nagoya
Location - 10 minute walk from the main Nagoya train station and several underground lines. 40 minute walk from Nagoya Castle. 2 convenience stores within a 2 minute walk. Restaurants - we didn’t have breakfast but had an evening meal in the on site restaurant. Much better than an on-site place in the uk, that’s for sure! Food was very nice and reasonably priced. Close to the centre of Nagoya so plenty of other restaurants in walking distance (for breakfast as well as dinner). Staff - staff spoke English at check in, which was very straightforward. Express checkout. WiFi speed - consistent. 100mbps download, 140mbps upload. Amenities - shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the room. Other things available for free in the lobby. A Japanese pj/ robe and slipper set for my fetching photo album. Bed / pillows - decent mix of pillows. Comfortable bed. Noise levels - quiet Temperature - aircon in the room, but remember to actually turn it on, instead of *just* setting the the temperature! It resets when you leave the room. The hallway was silly hot, so we had to speed walk to the lift or put our coats on downstairs! Shower - self contained shower unit. Consistent temperature and pressure. Overall comments - modern, clean, and close to the centre.

It was spotless and thoughtfully designed. The hotel has a very modern aesthetic, with charming splashes of color on concrete and wood base. There is also what appears to be a genuine commitment to sustainability, as all toiletries, info cards, etc. were plastic free. Even the room keys were made of wood. The two staff members we spoke to were also kind and accommodating. In the room, the bed was larger than average and quite comfortable. There was a variety of pillow options, a wonderful shower, central AC, and a fantastic view from the 11th floor. It can be understated just how rare it is to have a view from a Japanese hotel at this price point.

The hotel is near the Nagoya JR station but if your luggages are big and heavy, the walk to the hotel is not the easiest due to the narrow and uneven streets. The room is on the small side but that is to be expected. The hotel is a no frills hotel but the basic amenities are available. The toilet and shower are separate but there is no changing space outside of the shower; the door opens directly into the room with the wash basin and mirror blocking you from view. Still, it was a comfortable stay with a convenience store across the road from the hotel and a coin laundry a 10 minutes walk away.

Location is good - close to Nagoya Kintetsu and Meitetsu station and also close to another subway station. There're also bus stops nearby that take you to Sakae (Oasis 21 and Mirai Tower) and Nagoya Castle. There's a market selling fresh food right opposite to the hotel (only opens in the morning) and many restaurants around. Room is compact but I think it's normal in Japan. Staff is generally helpful and cheerful but might sometimes have miscommunication in English. Not a big problem anyways.

The location was excellent, easy walking distance to every shop, restaurant, train and bus station. The staff were exceptional, a smile greeted us every time we walked through the lobby. Check in was efficient too. Our rooms were modern and spotless and the bathroom was beautiful - the shower was a dream. We experienced a medical need during our stay and the staff went above and beyond to help us, our holiday ended happily because of them and we will always remember that.
